ABOUT BEER & BIRD
Beer & Bird is an independent, family run business located in the heart of beautiful St Ives. Our ethos is simple: source the finest craft beers we can find and serve them alongside delicious, locally sourced food.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHY FRIED CHICKEN?
To complement our beer selection, we wanted to serve simple, hearty comfort food. For us, we couldn’t think of anything more comforting than a plate of crispy fried chicken & chips served with a frosty pint of craft beer!
WHERE DOES YOUR CHICKEN COME FROM?
All of our chicken comes from Wicketts Poultry & Pork - a family run, free-range poultry farm in North Cornwall. Set amongst beautiful rolling hills, the long established business employs traditional farming methods, while meeting and exceeding the highest of welfare standards.
I HEAR YOU MAKE YOUR OWN CIDER?
We do indeed - less than four miles away in fact. We currently produce three different types, (all of which are available from the bar): a sparkling, medium-dry craft cider made from hand-picked cider apples; a still, strong traditional Cornish Scrumpy (go steady with this one – it’s 7.6%!); and a very special, limited-release cider aged in ex bourbon barrels.
CAN I JUST COME IN FOR A DRINK?
Absolutely! We’re a bar first and foremost, and although we do reserve a number of tables for diners, there’s plenty of space for standing, sitting or lounging.
DO YOU SERVE FOOD ALL DAY?
We are open daily 12pm till late serving food until 9pm. (Please note that during January and February we may operate with reduced hours. Please check our opening times on Facebook or Google before visiting).
CAN I BOOK?
Please note we are no longer taking table bookings. Please come along anytime and one of our friendly staff will be happy to seat you. At busier times there may be a small wait, but what better opportunity to sample one of our delicious craft beers at the bar!
I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BEER, CAN SOMEONE HELP ME CHOOSE?
Yes - our staff pride themselves on their beer knowledge. Some have been in ‘training’ for years, painstakingly drinking beer to broaden their understanding. Please don’t be afraid, ask them anything!
